One of JHP’s defining features is its commitment to student leadership. Every student has the opportunity to take ownership, develop practical leadership skills, and help build a vibrant Jewish community on campus.
The Board
JHP’s Board plans and executes everything from weekly meetings to the mentoring retreat and Shabbat for 1,000. Board membership runs January to December and is a great fit for freshmen and sophomores looking to take on leadership early.
Mentor & Alumni Engagement Chair
1–2 students
- Outreach to mentors and alumni throughout the year
- Promote the mentoring retreat on and off campus
- Expand 1:1 mentorship connections
- Lead the Mentor & Alumni Engagement Committee
Recruitment Chair
1–2 students
- Build relationships with new and less-engaged students
- Coffee chats and lunches with prospective members
- Plan fall recruitment events and the clubs fair
- Lead the Recruitment Committee
Philanthropy Chair
1–2 students
- Plan 1–2 community service events each semester
- Run the PB&J-a-Thon and joint events with other groups
- Lead volunteer recruitment and promotion
Social Media & Communications Chair
1 student
- Grow JHP’s social following with creative content
- Create posts, graphics, stories, and reels
- Design flyers for staple JHP events
Jewish Content Chair
1–2 students
- Plan and execute Shabbat for 1,000 each semester
- Drive attendance goals across campus
- Coordinate the Shabbat for 1K Committee
- Help lead other Jewish events and initiatives
Committees
Committees are a meaningful way to build leadership experience without the weekly commitment of a board role. Membership is semester-based, and students may join more than one.

- Bring in friends, Greek life, and other student orgs

Shabbat for 1K Committee

- Support JHP’s largest campus-wide event
- Drive outreach to clubs, teams, and Greek life
- Attend one to two planning meetings per semester
Student leaders receive ongoing training and mentorship in the vision and values of JHP, leadership development, mentor engagement, student outreach, event planning, teamwork, and communication — equipping them to lead with purpose both on campus and beyond.
More than organizing events, JHP leaders shape the culture of campus by empowering fellow students, strengthening Jewish community, and creating opportunities for others to connect, grow, and lead. Through this experience, they develop the confidence, responsibility, and values that prepare them to become the next generation of Jewish leaders.
