Student Profile
Jesse Roth - Mentoring Lead for JHP @ Penn
Jesse is a senior at Penn majoring in Political Science and minoring in Philosophy and Classical Studies. He joined JHP his sophomore year and has held several positions on the board including Mentoring Lead and Head of Social Media. He participated in JHP's Mayanot Birthright trip the summer after his junior year.
The highlight of Jesse's JHP career thus far was leading the fall mentoring retreat to New York City this November. He was able to join an impressive group of JHP and Penn alum along with excited JHP students for a great event. Over the past two summers Jesse spent his time working within the Sports and Entertainment Industry at companies such as Roc Nation and Principato Young Entertainment, helping to manage individuals such as Kevin Durant, Dez Bryant, John Travolta, and Queen Latifah. Jesse is also heavily involved on campus in organizations such as Swipe Out Hunger, the Undergraduate Sports Business Club, Sinai Scholars, the Peer Major Advising Program, and is a former 3 year Division 1 college baseball player.
According to Jesse, his favorite part about JHP is the community that it has created:
"As an athlete, I came into JHP searching for a community of Jewish students from similar backgrounds as myself in order to have an escape from the community of Penn athletics, where Jews are a significant minority. JHP allowed me to meet every Sunday with these people and engage in religious events in a comforting environment. My Penn experience would not have been the same without JHP."

Temple JHP Hosts Largest Personal Event of the Fall Semester
This past Sunday students from Temple University took part in the largest personal event of the semester! Students gathered on campus to celebrate the end of the semester before getting back to their studies. The 8 hosts, pictured below, invited Jewish students from all across Temple's campus to enjoy some bagels and lox and Jewish wisdom from Rabbi Kantor.
As one of the 8 co-hosts, Ari Abramson, noted:
"We hosted a brunch for Jewish students to come together and celebrate the last weekend of Fall semester together. The event was hosted by multiple JHP interns, which allowed us to pool together our networks and attract a large crowd of Jewish students. This event was supported by Rabbi Kantor and Chanie, who shared some valuable Jewish knowledge with us over brunch. We served traditional bagels and lox, and rejoiced with a beautiful view of Center City. It was a delightful way for us to wrap up the semester together."
Chabad At Penn Hosts Fundraiser for Syrian Refugees
On December 13th, Rabbi Levi, along with various sororities and fraternities from the University of Pennsylvania, will be hosting a Latke & Pancake Brunch which aims to raise money towards refugee relief in Greece. The event, Greeks for the Greeks, is donating all proceeds to the Humanity Now: Direct Refugee Relief fund which helps American volunteers work with and support Syrian, Afghani & Iraqi refugees who have been camped in Greece since the borders closed earlier in 2016.
Students from PHI, APES, TriDelt, TEP, PIKE & SAE will be co-hosting the event with Rabbi Levi at the Chabad House. Many familiar faces of JHP @ Penn will be in attendance at this philanthropic Latke making event and are looking forward to incorporating Jewish tradition with an important and timely cause.
