David Adelman Shares his Story with YPN
YPN Members meet with David Adelman at the Campus Apartment Offices

"Never accept 'no' as an answer if your believe in something."

That was the advice of David Adelman, CEO of Campus Apartments, to twelve young professionals this week at a meeting arranged by Jewish Heritage Programs. Mr. Adelman spoke about his path to becoming one of the leading real estate CEOs in Philadelphia and an active member of the Jewish community.

The young professionals, many of whom are beginning their own careers in real estate, found David Adelman's both instructive and inspiring.

"It was a memorable experience listening to David Adelman speak at the YPN Mentoring event. He's incredibly distinguished in his field and it was worthwhile hearing him talk about his background and experience in real estate. For me, the highlight was listening to him field questions because he answered them genuinely and candidly.  It was great to hear about how much he values the Jewish community and how he wants to improve Philadelphia."  Noah Goodman, YPN Fellow

This is one of many upcoming mentoring and leadership events that JHP has planned for young professionals in 2015.

A Conversation with Temple Intern: Brett Riley

What is your major?

Mechanical Engineering , with a concentration in energy systems

Where are you originally from?:
I'm originally from Huntington Valley in Lower Moreland.

Why did you join JHP?:

I wanted to get connected with other Jewish students on campus and incorporate Judaism into my everyday life.

When did you joined JHP?:

I joined JHP in my sophomore year.

What's has been the best part of JHP?:

Having free Shabbat dinners and bagel brunches that are attended monthly and to meet other Jews that I would not have met otherwise. It allows me to incorporate Judaism into my busy schedule. In the business of college life it is nice to have the reminder.

What have you gained from being a part of JHP?:

I have gained leadership opportunities and a better connection to other Jewish students on campus.

What do you do as an intern with JHP?:

I'm an an event coordinator and calendar manager. I chose this job because it is something I can incorporate into my busy schedule and help other interns come up with new and creative event ideas.

What was your favorite JHP event and why?:

The all-intern Phillies event that was really fun! Also, the chocolate Sedar was really fun.  Chocolate everything!

What is your favorite place in Israel?:

Last winter I went on Birthright with Mayanot, led by Flora Levine.   The Golan Heights hiking that was really fun. I extended 10 extra days to learn more and it was really inspiring to hear about Rabbi's who chose the life-style and it gave me a new appreciation for Judaism.

What are your plan after Graduation?:  Take the year off to travel and go to Israel!  I want to make the world a greener place, so anything to help with green energy.

TORAH THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

Ask advice from those with experience.  They will provide you cheaply that which they acquired with great expense.

the Lubavitcher Rebbe o.b.m.
