October's JBN Power Lunch featured Mr. Bill Marrazzo, the CEO of WHYY. A calm, collected, and self-claimed A-typical person, Bill prepared a 45-minute PowerPoint presentation, but then quickly scrapped it when he realized the audience was jumping out of their seats with questions.
"How far should the media go in reporting with opinion? How are you able to survive with the ever evolving media environment? How do you remain viable? What are your measures of success?"
Bill was able to provide honest and transparent answers to the audience, while remembering each name of the person who posed the question.
From discussing the three pillars of the public media company, to the demographics WHYY reaches, to the challenges of broadcast media, to the culture of public media, to the educational programs set in place for underprivileged people in Delaware County, and even a discussion of WHYY's Israel reporting, Bill was forced to cut his lecture, because there was no time left! If everyone could have, JBN attendees would have stayed all day to continue the discussion.
If you were not able to make it to this month's JBN Power Lunch, a video copy of the presentation will be posted to JBN's YouTube channel in a few weeks. Stay tuned for an update.
Next month, on November 14th, we will be hearing from Larry Kane from CBS Philly!
